compatability problem with adesso cyberpad and PhotoImpact

Post by wendyfast »

I bought a digital tablet. It's the Adesso cyberpad. It comes with a disk for PhotoImpact 12. Everything works fine except:
If I plug the cyberpad into the USB port and PhotoImpact is NOT yet running, I cannot start Photoimpact. It tries to start and the small screen pops up saying that it's loading this and that but it stops after about 20-30 seconds and the program does not start. The computer thinks it's running as once when I attempted to deleted it and reinstalled it, I got a message saying Windows could not delete it because it was "running in the background." The only way I can get it to run is to unplug the tablet and re-boot the computer. I have tried lots. I have both the Photoimpact 12 and the Photoimpact X3 versions and I've uninstalled and reinstalled both separately to see if it was a version problem. I'm using Windows Vista on a very well equipped computer that's only about 6 months old. Anybody have any idea what could be causing this? THANKS!

One problem may be that PI12 requires patches to run on a Vista machine. Since your version is an SE version, the patch will not install to it.

Have you tried installing and running PI12 under WinXP compatibility mode?
