Please Help!

I am using video studio pro x2 12.

I am new to this so please bare with me if I don't have all the correct info.

I captured some video from my camera and went through the editing process and tried to burn it to DVD and it says that my 1.33 min. video is to large to fit onto a 4.7g disc.

I'm sure it has to be something that I've done when capturing or burning as far as my speed or bitrate or whatever but I have no clue what.

Thanks very much in advance for any help, if more info is needed please let me know and I will try to supply it.

Welcome to the forums!  Nice to have an Egyptologist on board, or are you a fan of Phillip Glass's music?

Anyway, I am afraid we will require a fair amount of information from you before anyone can have a good stab at resolving your problem. Have a read of this message here http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 1454#41454 and get back to us with the information, please.

In particular, is your camera a video camera, or a still camera that can take video? What format did you capture in? (Right click on one of the captured files within Video Studio -- either in the library window or timeline -- and copy all its properties here please.)

Also, could you please clarify what you mean by the length of the video: is it 1 minute 33 seconds long, or is it 1 hour 33 minutes long? If the former, it would not be possible for the file -- if you are talking about a video DVD, and not a data DVD -- to be too long. If anything, you might have trouble burning such a short file to a DVD without padding being added to bring it up to a threshold of 1 GB.

But if the project is in fact 93 minutes long, that could be a different matter. If you have used the default DVD settings, those use a bitrate of 8000 kbps, which is high quality. But with that bitrate, you could only burn around 60 minutes of video to a single layer DVD, or a few minutes more if you use Dolby or mpeg layer 2 audio. To fit 93 minutes on a DVD, you would need to lower the bitrate to around 6000 kbps. This would still give you quite good quality.

But as I said at the outset, get back to us with the requested information, and we should be able to give you more specific advice.

Hi Ken and thanks for the welcome and the quick reply to my plea for help.

Finally someone who has read a book. I have been using this user name for years and i believe you are the first to recognize what it stands for. Kudos to you Ken.

No I am not an Egyptologist, just a fan of ancient history and in particular ancient Egypt. Not sure as to why i choose Ra, I'm sure a Psychiatrist would probably say that it was some deep narcissistic need for power and worship. But that's another post for a different forum.

Thanks for your help, I went back after reading your post and yes I was using the default settings. I changed them to 6000 kbps as you suggested and that did the trick. I was finally able to get my project completed.

Next time I will be sure to add more information at the beginning so as to make the diagnosis easier. Thanks again for your help.

Glad it worked! 8) And thanks also for the extra background info on yourself. As it happens, I am an archaeologist manqué -- it was my first desire in life as a career. I never wanted to be a train driver or brain surgeon. And I have maintained the interest all my life. Luckily, as I diplomat, I could visit most places of archaeological interest while on mission overseas, and actually serve as Ambassador to Peru -- a veritable treasure house of past cultures, and an area of considerable personal interest!

And I also happen to love the music of Phillip Glass -- including his opera 'Akhnaten', the monotheistic pharaoh... (that's his spelling of the name, by the way, not a mis-type by me!)
