Post by wild_nomad »

I want to burn an ISO so I can burn multiple DVD's. making the ISO works fine, however when I go to burn it on a DVD -R I get the following error massage:

Unspecified error
Error code 8004145d

Anybody have any idea? :?

Most burning problems are down to incompatibility with other installed programmes, such as nero - particularly if you use the packet writing software part of these programmes.
Does it burn direct from the app rather than the ISO?
Has it ever worked?
HAve you changed something since it last worked?

Also, have you installed the burn update?

Yes, it burns fine from the app which is how I am doing it. Just thought it would be quicker from an ISO file and less likely to error.

Can I just copy the ISO on to a DVD or do I have to burn it on in a specail way? i.e. can I just burn the ISO onto a DVD with Nero?

Burn update didn't help.

Nero can burn iso files to disc, but you don't want to just "copy" the iso file to the disc, as it will end up as a data disc. Nero needs to unwrap the ISO and burn the dvd-video file to the disc.
I've only had trouble with burning either way, never been able to burn one way and not the other ?????

O.K. Thanks for the info Graham! However, now I think about it I don't think my version for Nero burns ISO's. I guess I'll just keep burning straight to the disk from Workshop 2. Very annoying when software claims to do something but then dosnt deliever!

Thanks for your help :D

I have often burned an ISO file onto HDD then created a number of DVDs from the ISO file. Doesn't help you, but I've never had any problems.

Nero does burn ISO or its own NRG file by selecting "Image Recorder" as buring device instead of a real burner. When starting, it will ask for the name of the to "burn" the iso into.
