VS11 DVD Burning Error

Post by ekaminer »

I am getting an error when I burn a DVD.

Unspecified error [5.0.0]

The project is quite small so size of the DVD is not an issue. I tried different disks of different formats.

The error occurs after the menu renders.

boy this forum is running slow with a capital "f" tonight!

Hi Evan,

Can you successfully burn to a DVD with other software?

Do you have any "packet writing" or "DLA" software installed? E.g. Nero InCD or Roxio DLA? That can interfere with VS's ability to write to discs, and needs to be uninstalled in the case of Nero InCD or disabled for Roxio DLA.

If you choose to output your project to DVD folders instead of trying to burn straight to disc, are the DVD folders successfully created?

I can burn with Adobe Premiere.

I just ordered VS X2. I think I will wait to see if it works before I troubleshoot.

I really like the ability to edit in native MPG format so I keep both around.

So you've got no packet writing software installed then?

One thing that VS has been a bit picky with is mp3 audio. Don't suppose you added an mp3 sound or tune for your menu did you?

The "unspecified error" usually means there is something wrong with your project; a bad video or audio clip, the aforementioned mp3, etc.

What is your workflow? Do you render your project to a MPEG-2 file before going the the burn phase?
