FYI: Amazon has a good price on Pro X2

Post by dalemccl »

FYI, if anyone is thinking of buying Pro X2, or upgrading to it from an earlier version, I just noticed that Amazon has a good deal:

Pro X2 (boxed) for $74.99 with free shipping. Plus, owners of earlier versions (Ulead VS v6-10 and Corel VS 11 and 11.5) get a $30 rebate That makes the upgrade price $44.95 which is $15 less than upgrading directly from Corel. Proof of ownership can be a photocopy of the CD, the title page of the manual, or a printout of the Help>About box.

I am assuming, but don't know for sure, that this is the exact same boxed Pro X2 product that Corel sells. The reason I am not sure is that I bought what Amazon advertised as VS 11.5+ a couple months ago, but the product in the box was actually VS 11 and had to be updated to 11.5+ via patches from Corel's website.

Edit: I know from experience that Amazon changes their prices frequently so it's hard to tell how long they will have this price. The rebate however is said to be good until Nov. 22

I wouldn't be surprised to see prices drop in the current economic climate.

not sure that you could ever get VS11.5+ boxed - I thought you had to update it with downloaded patches - but no doubt I'll be corrected if I'm wrong about that!

I was following the lowest online price on a Canon HV30, which was just $479 a week ago.

It's now gone back up to $539....

That's still a heck of a lot lower than you'd find it for in the big box stores.

There never was an 11.5 for sale, it was 11.0 and you had to install the patches. They simply changed the packaging.

Thanks so much for this information. I was planning on waiting a while longer before upgrading, but decided to take advantage of Amazon's good price.

I just checked and they have raised the price to $89.99 but the $30 rebate is still on.
