When playing an MPEG clip in the Preview window, I get no sound when "Clip" is selected. When "Project" is selected, the sound is fine.
Under Preferences, Instant Playback is set for "Preview Window". I don't think this is a resource issue (3GHz PC, 1GB RAM, 30GB HD, no other apps running, no A/V software, etc.) Using the same clip in VS8, there's no sound problem during Clip preview.

Did you by chance select "Split Audio" to move the audio of the video into a separate audio track?Archimago wrote:When playing an MPEG clip in the Preview window, I get no sound when "Clip" is selected. When "Project" is selected, the sound is fine.

Problem solved - it was a codec problem. This thread helped me track it down. I uninstalled a recent codec pack and everything is working now.
