Hi VS friends,

great all the suggestions. I will use Audacity as I have it on my PC :D
My DirectX is indeed 9.0c(4.09.000.0904).

If I have some time I will try some other suggestions to check.

Thanks sofar Hans

2Dogs. Certainly no offence taken! You were making a completely legitimate point, and quite rightly so. It is just that, as I said, the audio recording component has in the past, been one of the weakest links in the VS chain, IMHO, so I try to avoid it where possible.

As for the slow forum responses, we have drawn that to Corel's notice some days ago. They rebooted their system 12 hours or so ago, but it seemed to have made no difference. I have not been getting any time-out messages, even though some of the responses have been taking more than a minute to show. But I have been getting the occasional 'Cannot access the [Corel] database', which I don't recall every seeing before.

You might not realise that sjj1805 (Steve Jones), Vidoman and I go through through quite literally several hundred new membership applications each day, 98% of which are from spammers. When it is taking, as it has recently, more than a minute for the system to accept and record a banning notice on the spammers, this is starting to take a considerable chunk out of our day which we could be spending more positively... So we have a vested interest in getting the system to be more responsive and fast, believe me.
