Does Corelvs12 pro have issues with vista?

Post by ostech »

Folks I have been trying to use my Toshiba laptop A215-S6816 with Vista home prem, a JCV GR-D270 camcorder to capture video to file but the program will only capture a few seconds of video and then stop. The program controls the camera but it just will not capture video. Any suggestions please. Comp 2gb ram bus speed 533 lots of space. Firewire connected.

I have downloaded and applied the patch. The same problem persist. I have since reemoved and reinstalled VS12 pro and patch. Still only few seconds recording. Capture device keeps switvhing between built in cam corder and DV compliant device (DV camera). Could it be that a JVC driver is needed. Site not very helpful. The camera works on another machine under XP Pro. Thank for any help or suggestions

RD has given me another build for you to test.

Please download the "IviAvCtl.dll" file from here:
http://www.humyo.com/F/6113409-204875689
Then
ftp://UL9MYQD6:6D1W8BNY@Private.ulead.c ... 812-14.zip

Try the following steps:

1. Use the attachment to replace the file of IviAvCtl.dll in UVS 12 AVControl folder to check if work
2. Send the test tool \\ks-nas\Testdata_KS\UDC\1.0\UDC1.0_(E)_for UVS\0812-14 to the user

Did VS work ok with the camcorder previously with an XP pc?

No version of VS has ever satisfactorily controlled my own JVC camcorder. It always starts playing immediately after I click on the "capture" tab and I have to stop it with the camcorder controls - otherwise VS will leave it in a noisy paused state that sounds like the tape is oscillating. One time I left it in that state for a few minutes, and had to run a head cleaner afterwards. I believe it actually damages the camcorder. So I prefer start playback using my camcorder controls, after which I hit the "start capture" icon in VS. I then have VS set so as not to stop the camcorder when I hit "stop capture".

On the other hand, Intervideo WinDV Creator 2 controls the JVC perfectly, but often times I prefer to use a small freeware program called WinDV to capture my footage.

I forgot to add another suggestion.
Windows Movie Maker is automatically installed with Vista.
See if you can capture from your camcorder with WMM.
This at least should help to confirm or negate if the problem is with the Corel software or if we should be looking elsewhere.

I have down loaded the first link but the second one is slow down loading.I will try all your seggestions and report back to the forum. For 2dogs, Yes I have used Vs from vs 10 and 11 on another comp running XP. VS 10 seem to be the most stable so far but vs 11 is working fine. I like the new features in VS12 if only I could get it to run on vista. Will report the result of all patches.

No they are not. They are addressing a very specific issue, and have not been officially released. I would not install them, unless you have the same problem as the OP.

sjj1805 I have tested all the patches you so kindly sent I guess I will have to give up on either VISTA or JVC. Thanks a lot.
