Preview screen's next button does nothing

Post by ralphtrent »

Hello
I am running VideoStudio version 11.5 plus on vista 64-bit. When I go to create a DVD and get to the Preview screen, i click next and nothing happens. The system does not hang because the back and close buttons work fine even after I click next.

Any idea's why this happening?

Thanks

It has become almost a mantra with me over the past couple of months to suggest people first go to the Microsoft DirectX website and download the latest update patch. The current one is dated August 2008 and can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
Note that it updates both DirectX 9.0c (XP) and 10 (Vista). The number of your DirectX installation will not change, but the patch gives extra functionality in a number of areas and corrects other faults in VS11 in particular -- and probably now also in X2 -- which appear linked to Windows updates. The menu preview, 'building preview graph' and other problems in the burning module seem to be amongst them.

Note that DirectX is not included in the usual pattern of Windows automatic updates. It has to be done every so often by the user manually. So unless you have recently done this, you are probably still using the original, non-updated version of DirectX which came with your computer.

thanks I will try the update. I would not have thought that directx could have been an issue since the previous screens and other buttons work. I tried searching before posting but the search just hung. While we are on topic. Can you please tell me what directx has to do with this screen and this button?

Thanks

It fixes them when they're broke..;) Other than that, we don't know. Windows or other updates will occasionally break parts of the programs. The DirectX updates seem to fix them..

I had a similar problem not too long ago. Updating DirectX did not work either. I did a System Restore to before Windows updates were installed, and reinstalled VS. I'm not sure which one did it, but it fixed the problem.

I am having the same issue. I also installed the Direct X update and
re-installed VS11.5. Anybody have any further suggestions besides going
back a couple Win updates?
