Error Report (800:32:781)

Post by rctfdd »

Since I downloaded a picture from the web, I have had a problem with my PhotoImpact 11. Now when I am in one of my picture folders and I click on open. The picture no longer opens. I get this message "Error Report: another user is using this application (800:32:781)". I have found a way around it but it is a bit of a newsance. What I have to do is 1st open my PhotoImpact 11 program and then open the file from there. I also tried to uninstall the program to start new and I got the same message and it will not allow me to uninstall it. I must have done something wrong when I downloaded that picture from the web. Please help me, Janet

Could you provide a little information about where the photo came from, and the specific properties of the photo? I ask this because of the possibility of getting a photo that may have had some extra baggage, like code to do harm to your system, commonly called a virus..

How did you download it? Did you grab it from the web from within PI or using your internet browser?

The only similar error I've seen is when I've attempted to move or delete a photo using windows explorer, and still had PI open with that image open in PI.

Perhaps when I got pictures from My Space

Post by rctfdd »

I am not real sure, this happened a few weeks ago and I forgot about it cause I did not go back to my pictures for awhile. I am almost positive that it happened when I downloaded pictures of my grand daughter at her My Space page. It is possible that I deleted a couple while I still had some in PI. I wish that I could be more helpfull. I was hoping that the number within the error message would be of some help. (800:32:781) Janet

Unfortunately error codes have meaning only to the programmers. I tried searching both the web using Google, and then MS Developer's web site. Both returned 0 (zero) hits.

Excluding the numbers, I did get some hits, one found on Yahoo Answers, that is very similar to yours. In fact the poster was having problems with PI-10. However no solution.

Just by the face value of the error message, it would appear that Windows thinks there is another instance of that photo being used, or PI, and will not allow it. Try checking Task Manager Application tab to see if there is more than 1 instance of Iedit.exe. If so, the program is not shutting down completely. Make sure PI is closed, and then recheck Task Manager. If after closing PI, Iedit.exe is still there, click on it to select it, and press the End Task button. You will get a confirmation prompt, asking if you want to end the task now, press Yes.

Right-click on the photo, and check to see what the attributes are, Read-Only, Hidden, ect. If for some reason it is Read-Only, uncheck it. Also try renaming it to something else, or try copying (not moving) it to another location on your PC.

Next change the application that is assigned to open when clicking on it in windows explorer. For example if PI has assigned itself to open JPG, JPEG images change it to something like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. To do this you can:

1. In Windows Explorer, go to the Tools Menu, Folder Options, File Types. Then scroll down to the extension (jpg, bmp, png) that the problem image uses. Click on it to highlight it. Then at the bottom in the Details for JPEG Extension, there is Opens With: and PI is probably displayed. Click on the Change button, and then navigate to another image program, or Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. After doing so see if you can open it by double-clicking on the image in Windows Explorer.

2. OR you can right-click on the image, then in the menu provided, select Open With and select another application if others are shown, or at the bottom of the menu, Choose Program. This opens the Opens with dialog window, providing several program options, or press the Browse button to locate one on your PC.

Task Manager Processes and found several Iedit.exe.

Post by rctfdd »

I did not find anything under Task Manager Application. Then I looked under Task Manager Processes and found several Iedit.exe. I deleted all of them. Then I turned off the computer and after I turned it back on, the same problem occurred. So the next time I went back to Processes and once again deleted all the Iedit.exe. This time I tried to uninstall the PhotoImpact 11 program and this time uninstall worked. I reinstalled PhotoImpact 11 and now I no longer get the error message. It does however take forever for PhotoImpact to come up. I would say about 4 times longer then it use to. I guess I will have to live with that, at least the error message does not come up. Thanks, Janet
