Using two monitors with VS X2

I've got VS 11 installed (though on another computer) and have a new computer on the way, and will be upgrading to VS X2 on it, and am wondering if the video card I get supports two monitors if it's possible (and if so, is it easy) to use both with VS X2?

This is also my introductory post, so I'll provide a bit of background.

I've been using VS since version 9, when I switched over from VideoWave. I switched because VW was having some sound/sync issues, and have enjoyed using VS since.

I produce mostly news style documentary pieces:

The 2008 Conner Puckett Classic Golf Outing ...

and

The 2008 Boonshoft Gala
http://www.activedayton.tv/view_video.p ... ategory=mv

are the most recent ones.

I'm hoping to spend more time online and less time editing now that I'm getting a quad-core system.

Welcome to the forums,

I guess we need to know what video card you will be getting? In the Preferences dialog (File Menu>Preferences or pressing F6 on your keyboard), there is a setting for Playback target. Setting this to Dual Head Device, should allow using a video card that has the capability of using more than one monitor.

That being said, VS does not allow just using the Preview window in one monitor and the rest of the program in another. You could use one monitor for windows explorer, and the second for VS...

I don't know which video card yet.

It's a Dell that's coming without a card, but I'm sure I'll want to add one soon, if not right away.

I was afraid it wouldn't work, but I remembered the Dual head in the preferences, I thought it might allow it.

Thanks,

If it doesn't have a card, how will you get it to work in the first place???
