Time Machine frame removal?

Post by posnpretty »

I have a black and white studio portrait of my grandfather, probably made in the early 60's, and a color photo of my grandmother taken at my cousin's wedding in the early 80's.

I scanned in the photos to my PC, using 1200 dpi resolution. I realize that is too large, but I wanted to do some touch ups before resizing them. Things like background eraser are easier to use (for unskilled me, anyway) when the photo is high res.

I want to post both photos on the home page of a family history website I am creating, and to make them match better I used the Box Camera effect in Time Machine to convert my grandmother's photo to a 60's-era black and white photo. I like the effect; now it looks more similar to my grandfather's photo.

However, the Time Machine added a frame to the photo, which I would like to remove. Is there any way to remove the Time Machine frame? I searched the Help docs but there was no mention of removing a frame. If I try to apply a different frame using Image>Picture Frame, it ADDS the frame to the one put there by Time Machine.

Thanks for your help!

In the Time Machine dialog you need to uncheck the Photo Edges option. Photo Edges applies the frame to the image..

There's no way that I can find to remove the frame once the Time-Machine has applied it. So before committing the effect, make sure you have cleared the Photo Edges check box. That way only the filter will be applied...

Thanks, Ron! I'll keep that in mind next time I use the Time Machine effect. In the meantime, while using the Background Remover plug-in, I just erased the frame! :D
