Various region DVD burning
I have installed my software as region 2. Is it possible to then burn a DVD for another region e.g Region 4 or 1?
Unless I'm much mistaken, region coding does not work with DVD¡ÓR/RW blanks which are automatically all regions.
Along with copy protection, this feature is for those producing DLT tapes for glass mastering.

I am in Region 2.
I just created a short test DVD with DVD workshop 2 and set it to create a Region 1 DVD and burned it to a hard drive folder.
I then used DVD Shrink to open and examine the DVD and it was set to Region 1.
Not much point burning it to a DVD Blank because it would not play on my Region 2 DVD Drive! I recall doing this to a blank disc a few years ago and as expected it would not play in my standalone Region 2 Player - displaying an error message relating to being in the wrong region.
I no longer use re-writeable blanks as I don't find them trustworthy.

I'm surprised at that. I've used the same two DVD-RWs for trials and tests for years. They must have been erased hundreds of times. Never had any problem. I was thinking only the other day that they are beginning to look a little dog-eared and scratched!!!sjj1805 wrote: I no longer use re-writeable blanks as I don't find them trustworthy.
My first set-top DVD player (a Grundig which, true Scotsman that I am, I sold for five Cyprus quid a year or so ago, after about 8 or 9 years) would not play RW discs at all, but my Philips and LG machines love them!

In the manual it says ''Most DVD players are given a code of the region in which they are sold. Such players will not play disks that are not coded for it's region.''
Does this mean that if I don't code the disk at all it won't play in any region?
At the moment I am coding for all regions ( 1 to 8 ) and using DVD -R disks. They play fine on my region 2 DVD player, but I have no idea if they play on other regions. I want to send a DVD to New Zealand (region 4) hence why I am asking the questions.
Thanks for everyones help

You should not set for any region. They will then play anywhere, assuming NTSC/PAL is correct for the player (most PAL players accept NTSC, as well).
