My slideshow size is 3.4GB (high quality) yet MF3 and MF4 re

I have 120 images (.bmp format) each one from 30MB to 147MB each - total size around 3.5GB. I want high quality images but MF3 reduces the whole lot to 73MB and MF4 to 500MB. Poor quality images appear on the DVD, of course. How can I tell either of them to take the images as they are, rather than compressing them, which is what I assume they are doing? Anyone else had the same problem?
