I get the same problems.

HD-DVD seem to read for a few seconds then, nothing. And the whole program likes to crash, so it is very unstable.

I uninstalled and reinstalled from CD, works fine again, except my multiple sound card problem.

I had the same issue when I had the 8800GTS and when I swapped it out for a 8800GT video card the problem went away with no other changes to my system.
