WINDVD 9 Plus - Multiple sound cards - Cannot select

Post by philhu »

I have a Vista machine with 2 USB Creative sound cards.

One is an Audigy NX 2 and the other is a Headphone/Mic USB 'card'

They are treated by the system as seperate cards, both are USB devices.
The Headset/mic one was installed last. In Control Panel/Sounds, I need to set a default card before running software to use one or the other.

WinDVD Plus does NOT let me change the sound device to use. It always plays through the Headphone/Mic set. The last device installed, so probably the top of the sound device list.

WinDVD has no place to change the sound CARD to use, and seems to blindly use the first in the list, which is last installed. It DOES have a way to change the sound for speakers or Headphones, but those are headphone plugged into the soundcard, not a seperate sound card to the system.

Machine:
Intel Core 2 Quad core 6700, 4 gig memory, NVidia 8800 640 meg memory, Creative Audigy nx2 usb sound system, Creatibe Headphone/mic sound system, Vista Ultimate, patched up to date.

 Would this work?
Go to the Vista Control Panel and then the Hardware manager, find the Audio device you do not want to use and right click it and select "disable"

When you have finished you can reverse the process and enable it again.

It would be really nice if in case of multiple sound cards WinDVD would allow to choose what device should be used. Many multimedia programs do...
