Hi..I've got a static sound after created a video file from X2 with video studio editor.

Steps to replicate:
1. import video from dvd
2. edit and cut the movie for 10 seconds for example
3. add to the track and right click and choose 'mute' so there is no sound
4. press share by creating a video file
5. I choose mpeg optimiser or other pal dvd
6. it will automatically play my new file and it has a static sound
it also happen when I open the the exported file as well.

It didn't happen before (2 weeks ago) with the same steps as above but I reformat my PC and I installed the latest audio driver for my motherboard.

Do you think it was cause by the audio driver? but this latest audio driver fix my issue of recording TV using my TV tuner.

Any idea what causing the static sound?

IF, I don't mute the video clip and extract/create a video file it will turn out ok with the original sound, only happen if I mute the sound and it will produce static sound.

I also try to reduce the sound from 100 to 1 or 10 but it will crash the program and then most of the time when I reopen the application and add to the track it will crash the program again.

BUT more importantly why there is a static sound when I want to mute the clip?

Crashing sounds like your MPEG file is corrupt, or getting corrupted during editing. A corrupt file could also cause audio problems. Try saving the file as DV/AVI first (before any editing). Then open and edit in DV/AVI format. You can then save the edited file in as MPEG-2 if you wish.

In general, you'd like to avoid decoding & re-coding MPEG, but sometimes it can't be avoided.

My guess is, that's just a coincidence. (Your audio driver shouldn't be involved in the editing/processing of the audio/video file. Your soundcard & driver just allows you to monitor/preview our edits. The same is true for the video card & driver. All of the data manipulation is done by the CPU.)

hm..okay I will try again later but the odd one is it is working fine if I don't mute the clip and keep the original sound and it turn out fine.

Also it didn't happen last time before I reformat.

I will try as well later if I use from my AVCHD file instead of DVD or try different DVD.

This static continously sound from beginning to the end, not that loud but definately noticable.

You can render that portion of the video without sound by selecting
the [Share] Tab, [Create Video File], [options]
and then alter "Video & audio" to "Video Only"

But it is working now.
I uninstall and reinstall the software and it is working again.

I don't know why but it is working again yay!!

okay, I found the issue.

It clashes with my compro e900 digital tuner (either driver or DTV 4 software).

After I uninstall and reinstall X2 to fix the static sound if I choose to mute then the result of recording TV sound going back to the previous issue ie. a few minutes with sound and then no sound and then sound again or another record no sound at all.

So I re-image to go back to my previous window version.
I will follow sjj's suggestion to go to option with video only and my TV recording sound looks ok now.

I reported already about the clash but not sure whether either of the software provider will action on it.

Thanks at least there is a work around so I am quite happy now eventhough took a long time to investigate and test here and there.
