Wedding Transitions

The alpha channel is the transparency - a transparent background - so it can be used as a transition, overlay, etc.

Sorry for the delay in responding, long day here in New York. I basically download them to folders on my hard drive. Then I just open X2 Pro and create a folder under Videos called "Hotcakes" and move either all of them in several folders so as not to have just one large folder.

I put the AVIs in a folder, the transitions in another, widescreen in another and so on. When I need to use them, they are right in the library and I open them on any of the video tracks, including the main track since they are in AVI format.

They also come in QuickTime, but I didn't bother downloading any of them. And as another poster stated, the alpha tracks are transparent so you can be really creative with them. Hope this helps!

Alpha channel refers to the transparency aspect of a scene.

Thank you guys for all the info! really appreciated it. Finally I ordered from the "Digital Juice" the Themekit No. 18. It will come by FedEx (2-3 days I guess) and then all the fun starts...

it is part of the make up of a clip that can be given various values of
transparency.For instance you could make a background colour 100%
transparent in a clip and then overlay it onto another clip with only its foreground beinf displaid..... in simple terms...............Ken

Thanks Jeff for the offer.

I will "bother" you with question if necessary. So will I get a DVD then from them with different videos clips and I have to sort them out what is what? Use then the Library manager of VS and copy the clips inside?

Yes, you will receive a DVD(s) with the clips. You then use their software (included), called the Juicer, to render the clips to a format to put into your VS project. I recommend uncompressed AVI. Yes, it will produce a large file, but the DJ clips you will be dealing with are only a few seconds long, but VS will have no problem handling them. You will then import the clips into VS just as you would any video clip.

Can anyone tell me what "Jump backs" are in the Juicer 3? What does it mean?

Jump Backs are animated looping backgrounds. If you are thinking about that to go along with the Theme Kit you ordered you may not need it because Theme Kits come with animated backgrounds (although you will not get as many as you would with a Jump Back set).

In any case I see your point because what I needed was some nice wedding backgrounds and from what I see in the theme kit #18 that I got it's got some nice ones. These backgrounds do they go in an overlay track and are transparent?
In the meantime while I am waiting for my product to arrive, I have downloaded the "Juicer 3" from their site just to get familiar with it. So I guess when I receive the DVDs will I use this to install them?

No, they are backgrounds. Being transparent would defeat the purpose, although I guess you could chroma-key a color out if you wanted to.

Yes, the Juicer is used to install the products and to render them to the type of file you will use in your project. Depending on your product the Juicer can also be used to change the colors of the animation, add or delete music tracks, etc.

So this is really what I want to know: I want to use one of this wedding backgrounds that I will get and on top of that I must be able to put my recorded video, so when you see this recorded video you must be able to also see the background from Digital Juice. To accomplish this should I put my recorded video in the main Video Truck and the Background from Digital Juice in the Overlay track?

The way VS has there timeline arranged is, in my opinion, backwards and can lead to this type of confusion. To me the main video track should be on the bottom and overlay tracks should be on top of that, because clips in an overlay track "lay over", or on top of, the main video.

With that said, you want to put your background clip on the main track and your wedding clips on an overlay track, so they are on top of the background clip. But I'm not sure you fully understand the concept here. Unless you are going to reduce the size of your wedding clips you are not going to see the background clip, as it will be covered by the wedding clips.

I typically use Jump Backs as backgrounds for my titles (instead of using a plain color clip) or as my menu background.
