X2 and FXbench install <FYI>

Post by less2008 »

-
FXbench does not recognize "Corel/Videostudio" but ....

install FXbench as usual,

then copy the file named
"C:\Program Files\Burger\FXbench\FXbench.vft"

to the location you installed X2
"C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\vft_plug"

open X2 and FXbench should be listed under "Burger"
** Note: Neither burger or FXbench will show up when "All" is listed, you have to open the filter drop down menu

That's because FX Bench is a video filter. Burger's Transitions should be found in the Effects>Transitions library..;)

Not working for me. I see the FXbench.vft file with all the others in vft_plug folder, but it's nowhere to be found within the GUI. What's wrong?

Ah! I just answered your other post about horizontally flipping a video, telling you to install FXBench!! You haven't told us which version of VS you are using. But in VS 12, where I have it currently (and successfully!) installed, when I select Video Filter, there is a big drop-down menu, and Burger appears down at the bottom (not 'FXBench'). When you select Burger, there is only one filter -- FXBench!

It does NOT appear if you select Video Filter > All.

Thanks for the response Ken, but still no go. I followed the above instructions to a "T", but just don't see it. I have VS X2 by the way- it's the upgrade version installed on top of VS 11.5 Plus. Could that be the snag? Is there any way you can put up a jpeg of the drop down box showing Burger? I actually work with PC's and servers all day, so this is really frustrating me!

Thanks again to all for the help- and have a great Thanksgiving to my USA compadres.....

Here's a couple of screenshots, showing that FX Bench has it's own video filter category, called Burger.

Following the installation of FX Bench, when you launch VS, it should go through a short sequence of finding a loading any new filters, and plug-ins.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.. :D :D :D

I have VS X2 by the way- it's the upgrade version installed on top of VS 11.5 Plus.
The different versions of VS are all stand alone. One does not overwrite another. If you have the vft file in the correct folder in both 11.5 and 12 the filter should appear in both versions.

I got fx bench to work in VS12 by opening the fx bench file and looked for the fx bench vft file and pasted that into corel vft folder. I was (thought) I was following the instructions to the T. I simply dropped the entire folder into corel vft plug folder and it would not work. Maybe I am too much of a neophyte to have known I could not simply drop the entire folder and make it work. I am a trial and error guy sometimes I miss an obvious point in instructions

When you have a clip on the timeline, select "Effect" then "Video Filter" then at the bottom of the window selct "Burger". As in the screenshot above!
This will show just one filter named "FX Bench". Drag this filter to the clip on your timeline. The filter box will then open showing "FX Bench" Below that box next to the cogwheel symbol you will see "Customise Filter" Click this and it will open a window showing all the variations of the FX Filter.
The Burger add on is really just one filter called FX Bench. All of the options are parts of the same filter not individual filters.

Weird one this .... only noticed it tonight on my laptop and then checked my desktop and found the same.
When you install FxBench in the VFT folder, for some strange reason the Burger Transitions in the VFX folder no longer show up in the transitions library!.
The entry is there but instead of transitions there is another copy of the FXBench filter.

Anyone else got this issue or perhaps I just had a faulty download which was installed on all my computers.

Yep I got it on mine

I just finished reformatting and reinstalling WinXP yesterday. Before I did not have this issue. Now I get the same thing in VS Pro. Burger's installed correctly to VS11.5+, and I don't have this issue on my Vista Laptop.

Thanks Ron, there must be a conflict between the two items that only shows up in X2.

There's something going on that I can't put my finger on. Prior to reformatting, I managed to have both FX Bench and the transitions. Since then I can only get one or the other. I've tried copying the transitions first, then the filters, and vice-versa. It still wipes out the transitions, and leaves me with 2 of the FX Bench.

On each try I would uninstall and clean re-install VS, however still the same problem. Oh well I guess I don't need them both.
