Hi Roy

To identify the properties of your clip, right click and select properties.
These settings reflect the file on the hard drive, the original copy.
They have not been changed by editing.
The ¡¥Attributes¡¦ will show the frame size and aspect 4:3 or 16:9

To resize the clip, first undo any filters.

Make sure that File--Project Properties¡Xshow the correct aspect ratio.
That is the aspect that you require on your DVD. I assume 4:3

Select the clip in the timeline
Select the Attributes Tab
Select Distort
Now right click the preview screen and select ¡¥Fit to Screen¡¦
Then right click the preview screen and select ¡¥Keep aspect Ratio¡¦

Thanks Steve.,
I'll try those two methods and see which appears the better.
Being new to this programme I do appreciate all the help I've been given.
Many thanks, Roy.

Hi again Steve.,
This is becoming really frustrating. I have tried using the crop tool and this doesn't work. The max. allowed is 100% horizontal or vertical. I've tried distorting the clip and can do that in the preview box by dragging the corners, or the centre up and down, ie. using the yellow boxes, extending the frame out of the preview square, but can see no way of transferring that to the clip. I can lengthen or shorten the clip in the overlay line, the same as in the timeline, but I know of no way of making the clip taller or shorter.
Where is the 'distort button'? I'm afraid I can't find one.
Regards, Roy.

Not at my own machine right now so had to find a screen shot from one of my tutorials. You can see it here

Another way is to place the clip onto an overlay track and then you can distort or resize it as required.

Hi Steve.,
Us apprentices must give you grey hairs!
That's sorted a treat. As I said in my previous post, I did use the yellow boxes, but that didn't do the job. However, distorting, using the green boxes, worked fine. I said I couldn't find the distort button. It was right in front of my eyes! Must be getting old!
Having done that, I've lost all the tools for adjusting the various filters!!!
Went into 2D mapping for cropping and found that I had no tools to do the crop. I tried other adjustable filters and there were no tools for those either.
I'm working in Pro X2, I believe it's also called VS 12. Is this a bug with this programme? I can always go back to 11+.
Thanks for your help and hopefully your comments on the filters.
Regards, Roy.
