I was about to pull the trigger on upgrading to VS X2 only to be disappointed to discover that it won't read/handle a m4v file?????
What gives? I thought it was supposed to handle iPod/Apple files? This came from an Apple and I need to make it a standard DVD!
Or am I missing something? I went to the "open video" and it would not show this file nor open it if I said to show all files.
I am running the TBYB version. Could this be the problem or does X2 Pro simply not handle this kind of file?
I had to go to Roxio 2009 and it handled it without a blink.
VS X2 Pro and m4v files - NOT!

No, it isn't copy-protected. This video was custom made for us. Besides, it wouldn't have worked in Roxio 2009 if it was copy protected.
No, I did not try changing the extension. I did not figure that VS was that locked to the file extension name. It said the format was unsupported when I tried to force it to open.
So, I tried changing the extension and now it does load the file. Thank you for the suggestion.
Now if they would only make the DVD menu creation truly flexible (add text wherever as many times as I want, let me create true sub-sub menus with links to other menus and menus with objects that point to other menus, etc).

For the latter, I am afraid that you are talking about a pretty sophisticated (and expensive) authoring program in its own right. The late, and very lamented, Ulead DVD Workshop would have given you such flexibility, but though possibly still available, is well out of date.
However, it also cost two or three times the current value of VS...

These are sensible suggestions and the more users that make requests for them the more likely that Corel will take note.zforray wrote:........

I wouldn't think it would cost that much. Roxio's My DVD component does most of this. Still lacking in a few areas......
True, a very flexible DVD mastering program like DVDit and such do cost much bigger $$$$ but also have a high learning curve.
I guess it is back to the issue that no one "consumer" DVD/video mastering/creation program does it all and does it all correctly....which is why I have to jump between 3-such programs to get most/all the flexibility I need without paying $300-$500
