Not using proxies for clip preview - updated Corel Response

Post by dalemccl »

There was discussion in a thread a while back about the fact that Pro X2 does not use proxy files when previewing individual clips, either from the library or the timeline. Proxy files are only used when previewing the project. I suspect earlier versions of VS do the same.

I reported this to Corel and they said that this is how Pro X2 is designed and is not a bug. I then asked them if they would consider changing the design so that proxy files are used for clip previews, or at least provide that option (some users may prefer to play the full resolution clip). This is their response:

"I submitted an 'Enhancement Request' to our product development team regarding the 'Smart Proxy' feature so that they can take this into consideration for future patches or version. However, I can't guarantee you that this will be immediately be implemented on the next coming patch or version."

I'm just posting this response to keep anyone informed that might be interested in the same enhancement.
