What's the diff between Nova PI Pro 13 & Ulead PI X3?

Post by awp »

The screenshots look very simliar and so do the features. Only differences I saw were what they were bundled with (Ulead has Corel Painter 3. Nova has Face Filter Studio 2).

From the screenshots, they also both seem to be using Media One 2.0 as the organizer.

Anyway, I can get a better deal on the Nova product right now and wanted to know if there was any difference in the main product.

Nova make various tweaks to their version of PhotoImpact.
I do not think you will find that any Corel issued patches and service packs that may appear will work with a Nova Version.

It is highly unlikely that anyone has purchased both versions and so It is doubtful anyone can give a side by side comparison.

The only thing that I know, was provided by Heinz-oz... With Corel/Ulead products you can have multiple versions installed on your PC. You can not run more than one at a time, but can have several versions installed. Nova will not allow this. Each version will require uninstalling the previous or others, and/or will replace it.

It's odd that Nova would be close to Corel's current release. Nova is generally about 1-2 versions behind Corel. Nova's version X3 or 13 will be like Corel's version 11 or 12.

Just FYI. I got it and it's pretty much identical except for some of the logos, etc. that make no reference to Ulead / Corel (other than copywrite).

It has everything that's new in Ulead's PI 13 -- from the new cloud pen and comic strip wizard to slideshow optimizer wizard and dvd menu maker changes. It's all there.

Only differences were some of the extras as I mentioned before.

But as far as the main program, it's NOT an older version. It's the same and I got it much cheaper than I could find PI 13 so I'm a happy camper.
