Is it really required to have V8 installed in order to install upgrade (ESD)? Or does V9 upgrade just require V8 CD during installation?
Does SmartDownload saves downloaded files, so that they can be used in case of reinstall, or rather they are directly installed?
TIA

V8->V9 upgrade & Smart Download questions
I would assume if you have the UVS8 CD that the UVS9 upgrade will be happy to install if you have the CD in one of your drives (I cannot recall, but I think that UVS7 asked to see UVS6 CD and that this worked OK).
I have just tried Smart Download in UVS9 and it is now downloading the file to a specific location from which I expect you can then burn the downloaded file to a backup CD in case you have to reimage you drive. The file is within the Ulead UVS9 folder so if you uninstall UVS9, these files may be removed by the uninstallation process, but please excuse me if I do not try this.
There is an option called "Execute after downloading" which I have not checked as I have already downloaded and installed this file manually, and Smart Download has not detected that I have installed this file myself.
