Can someone please help me regarding the timeline window? (VS 12)
After adding my various clips to the timeline, then starting a trim of a clip, I got a 'red line' across the top of the timeline. Frustratingly, every time I try to edit beyond that point, it in fact goes back to the start. If I try to play the video, it stops at the end of it.
I'm obviously missing something here! Can anyone please tell me:
1. What is it?
2. What did I do to make it happen?
3. How do I edit video beyond it?
4. How do I get rid of it?
Many thanks

This comes up from time to time,
I searched for the word 'red' and this was the most recent http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... hlight=red

When you use the [ ] Mark-in and Mark-out buttons in the PREVIEW SCREEN, you are merely setting up a range for Preview purposes. If you wish to edit a clip in this screen you have to use the Scissors button to cut at the current cursor position, or else drag the edges of the selected clip in or out to the required length/position.
However, when you are in the Single Clip Trim Window the [ ] buttons work as trim handles.
So, back to the problem - once you have selected a preview range, VS stays in this mode until unselected. The red line shows that the preview range will first be rendered and then played as High Quality Playback. I set my Playback to Instant Playback, so I don't see the line.
Un-selecting the Preview range in VS seems to be a major mission - not sure why it has to be so
