Hi All,
I'm losing it. I've been using DVDMF from version 2 up, sometimes with a problem but heck, always solved. Ok, I've switched to Full HD recently. Ok, I've bought a Panasonic SD9. I can edit, do everything. But as soon as I try to make final output (disk, folders or image for that matter), DVDMF crashes after some rendering.
I've seached Inet and the forums deeply. I know where the problem lies - I think - the incompatibility between the H264 codec from Panasonic/Sony and Ulead products. See also the issues on the Videostudio board on this issue.
I have bought other programs in the meanwhile. Studio 12. It works but not my cup of tea. PowerDirector. That one also works! But also not my cup of tea. I want DVDMF!
So... I imported the AVCHD files directly from the SD-card into Studio 12 and made one, big HD video file with it (MPEG2, 25000 Kbs, recoded). Not perfect, but then I can work with DVDMF. I thought. I hoped.
But even that crashes when rendering to output! Tries other bitrates as well (not lower than 15000) but it all crashes when recoding.
Here's the fault:

The fault is persistent. I try to output to Blu-ray, approx 25000 Kb/s. I work with a Pentium Q6700, 4Gb Ram and Vista 32. Should do it.
I have DVDMF installed, installed all updates and ofcourse the HD Power Pack. No dice. And yes, I have only one H264VDecHPDll.dll installed, only in the Ulead directory.
Anyone with a solution? I reward a bottle of really nice whiskey (12 yrs malt, or anything else for that matter) for the person to resolve this problem. I have hrs of family films waiting and can't come any further....
Thanks for your help, best regards,
Wiebe Barkey
AVCHD from Panasonic SD9 keeps crashing...
I understand from your post that DVD MF even crashed with a MPEG2-file which you have re-encoded with Studio 12.
First, why should MF then try to re-encode ? If the MPEG2-file is Blue-Ray-compliant (resolution, bitrate etc.) and you check the "do not convert"-box in the project settings, MF will not re-encode and probably not crash.
Second, if MF is crashing both with the original AVCHD-file and with the re-encoded MPEG2-file, the reason for crashing is probably NOT the footage, but any other setting you have choosen. You should test this by using another video footage with all settings and menus unchanged.
Please report after these tests so we will be able to identify the reasons for the crashes furthermore.

Hi Lion,
Your understanding is right. Thx for your reply, but I've tried that all. Seems like DVDMF crashes on high bitrates. Besides that, I want to include photo's and build a menu between vid's and pics's per day. In regular video no problemo, HD no can do.
Btw, also without the pics the rendering to Blu-ray don't work. I never go 2 disk directly, always to disk 1st and then burn. Disk space isn't the problem.
Will DVDMF 7 solve my problem maybe?
Regards, Wiebe
