I have a project I have been working on that had proxy files for all the clips, so the project timeline playback was smooth, as long as I previewed the project and not individual clips.
I started up Pro X2 today and opened the project file. Playback of the project was choppy and the preview was clearly in high definition, reflecting the original 1920x1080 AVCHD clips rather than the proxy files. For some reason it was not using the proxy files it had used in previous sessions.
I clicked on the little Smart Proxy icon under the transport buttons (the little guy running with a check mark next to him). "Use Smart Proxy Files" was checked. I clicked on "Smart Proxy File Manager" and found no files listed. "Smart Proxy Queue Manager" showed no files in the process of being created.
I checked the Smart Proxy tab of "File/Preferences" to get the folder location for the proxy files, then checked that folder in Windows Explorer and saw that all the proxy files for the project are in the folder.
For some reason Pro X2 is not finding them. I rebooted Vista and tried again with the same results. Any ideas?
Pro X2 suddenly stops using existing proxy files

Smart Proxy Files Gone
"No idea what the problem is" Not a good answer - I am having the same problem - the proxy files are there, but upon reload, they are not. You get what you pay for - Now don't get me wrong, I have used the series of Ulead Video Studio for years - but there is always some little glitch that keeps it from being a "10."
Canon HF10 Video Camera - Asus Rampage MB - Intel Quad 4 Core 9550, 8 gigs DDR2, Pioneer BD203, TSS DVD, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

If there was a consumer product that was a "10" I guess everybody else would be out of business.
I have yet to see ANY kind of software that does everything perfectly 100% of the time. I think that is just the nature of the beast.

Because Pro X2 was loosing its connection to proxy files frequently, I switched to a method of making my own proxy files. The idea came from a user named "etech" and is described in the link below. Check the quote in Ken Berry's reply in the second message in the link.
The method also solves the problem described in the first post in that thread which is that Pro X2 only uses its own proxy files when playing the "project", not when playing an individual clip. Playing individual AVCHD clips results in choppy playback, even with my quad core. With etech's method, you get smooth playback when playing a clip or the project.

It took me a while to work out the work flow, but once I got it working it works well and works every time. I now use for all my AVCHD projects.
