Unspecified Error when burning

I get the unspecified error without fail. I even get it when I try to "Create Blu-ray folders." Also, the "Create disc image" checkbox is not available to me to check so I haven't tried that.

I have removed all other burning apps and removed and re-installed DVD MovieFactory 6 in this order:
  • Install DVD Movie Factory
    Install Patch 2
    Install HD Pack
It's beyond frustrating as I've been trying to burn this disc for a week now and it's always several hours before I get the "Unspecified error" message. Anyone have any other ideas?

guartho,

Please tell us something about your original video files. What format? What camera did they come from, etc?

Most of of these problems have something to do with the original video file and the format conversion process.

(I probably can't help you because I don't have HD, but maybe somebody else has the same camera and/or file format you are using.)

P.S.
I "split" your post to a new thread.

Doug.

It's a 1920x1080 quicktime movie encoded with the photoJpeg codec. I have made a Blu-ray Disc from this same master using Toast 9* without issue and I've made Blu-ray Discs with this workflow before so I hesitate to suspect the file. I won't cross it off the list though.

I've tried changing the Mpeg encoding settings and taking another crack at it currently.

*It must have a real menu though so I need to make it work in DVD MovieFactory.

So far so good. I was able to make a folder and am now using Toast to burn the folder contents. We'll see if it plays. Then I'll try modifying the encode settings... I at least want a two-pass encode.

Any idea why I'm not allowed to create a disc image instead of a folder or a direct burn?

Burning the folder contents using Toast failed, but I was successful with a direct burn. I still can't make a disc image.
