VS9 new user queries

Post by hamish »

Hi all,

I'm extremely very new to video editing. I have a Panasonic NV-GS50 linked to my Advent PC via firewire.

I've printed off the recommended procedures (from the stickied thread above) but my feeling is that it is directed at VS8 and not VS9.

My experience so far is that I ran the DV-to-DVD Wizard and the whole process took over an hour to do. The camcorder kept stopping and starting - I guess this is usual.

I suppose what I am looking to do is copy my video toa file, or files, on the PCs hard drive and work on these before transferring them to DVD.

When I follow the recommended procedure I just don't see where I can set the properties of the capture procedure.

I'd appreciate any pointers (it cannot be too simple for me :)) as too what VS9 specific instructions I should follow to ease me into this.

Cheers ta, Hamish

If it helps, I'm based in the UK ( for appropriate settings).

Hi,

DV flow is (in broad terms), download to hard drive, edit clips, add video effects like color correction or some special effects, add transitions - if desired, titles and overlays, then export to some *deliverable* for viewing - most likely a DVD.

Very simple stuff, but a start.

I would capture the whole tape. The clips will be broken by timestamp (when the camcorder is placed on *standby*). Trim them, put them in order, then share.
