WM9 Codec in 64bit Windows

what am I doing wrong?? I have used Video studio for years, never had a problem using the software ( hence why i liked it, was easy to use ), but ever since I moved int 64bit windows (about 2 years ago) I have had NOTHING but problems using WM9 codec to render my videos in HiDef. The only application that I can get to work is Windows Media Encoder 9 x64, however for me to get a video done I have to encode it in AVI raw (massive size file) when covert it in WME9. I was hoping that the release of this new Video Studio this issue would be fixed but I find myself in the same spot.
The other point I need to make (which was mentioned above) No other app that I have tested will work (Nero's, Vegas, Pinnicale, Premere Pro).
Is there a trick? Since I have over 8gb's of ram I am going to install a vm running vista 32 bit but I would really love not having to do this. Anyone else having this issue? Any insight??
(moving to vista was a breeze, moving to 64bit has been a complete nightmare!)

What video format are you starting from?

i have tried many formats, Anything that Video studio can read mpeg, Avi, WMV (already encoded with WM9 codec)....
If I install Video Studio in a 32bit os, when you go to render, and select custom then WMV you can go to profiles and see the WM9 Profiles along side with the WM8 profiles. However when I install Video Studio on a 64bit OS, I can only see WM8 profiles.
I have tried importing, exporting, reinstalling, updating...
Pulling my hair out!!

I can confirm that I can select from 7 different WMV9 profiles in VSX2 in Windows Home Premium (64 bit)
But I don't understand why they are missing in your version.

One thing I have never done is install Codec packs or anything third party. Have you tried re-installing VSx2?

i have reinstalled VSx2, the only codec pack I have ever installed was WME 9 Series. But I did this only after I noticed I lost the ability to encode in wm9.
The only other thing that I can think of is that I use CCleaner on a regular basis, perhaps I removed some registry keys of some importance. Luckily I always save a copy so I will go through my deleted keys to see if I noticed anything. I am going to install a vm with vista 64 bit and then only install VSx2 to see what happens.
I will post my results (should be a day or two)

I had too many registry keys saved throughout the years so I backed up my laptop and reinstalled a clean version of vista 64 bit, ran all the OS & hardware updates (including vista sp1),
I am still unable to get VideoStudio to show WM9 profiles when creating video files.
I even trying running the installation in compatibility mode Win Xp Sp2 (this has helped me with other apps not designed for x64).
If this is version is suppose to work, can I get tech support on a trial version??? The only thing keeping me from buying this product is this issue.
Thanks

well, this is a late update, been busying trying differnt products to meet my needs..
I have done everything I know to try to get the wm9 profiles to show up in VS x2 in a 64bit OS, and its just not possible. From reinstalling VS, to reinstalling WM9 encoder, to reinstalling my OS (after installing os I installed vs).
As soon as I take the same software and put it on a 32bit platform, they are there! I just dont understand, Clevo says he can see them.. by what matter of magic is that possible??
Funny thing is I can't find any help across the net. Am I the only 64bit user trying to use wm9 codec in VS x2?? Or why am I having so many problems even after doing a clean install on a clean os???
I hope someone super smart reads this and can pass on the info to me. Even if your a user not a part of the boards, feel free to gmail me (
evilhomerclone@gmail.com) with ANY help.
Thanks
FIXED!!!!

Unbelieveable, I have spent since VS 11 trying to figure out why I lose the ability to view WM9 profiles in 64bit os's. NO ONE has been able to assit me with this and I thought it was just going to be a lost cause...
I mean I just posted eariler today that I was giving up.. that is until I came up with 1 more idea!!!
Since I was using 64bit OS, I was downloading and installing 64bit WM9 Encoder.... on a WHIM, i removed the 64bit version and installed the 32bit version... WALLA I now have access to wm9 profiles in VS x2!!!!!
Oh HAPPY Day!! No more dual encoding, No more VM's.....If you this I am going over board, you just dont know how ticked off I have been for years now trying to come up with an answer.

Clevo,
No problem. I mean thats what these forums should be about. I try with everything I post, to give it closure if possible. (newegg reviews, forum inquiry's)
A slight lie in my post, it really wasn't a whim, what happen was I installed the program on another vista pc (32bit) to see if I was really doing something wrong. After the install I noticed that even on Vista 32bit, by default, you don't see the WM9 profiles in VS. So I installed the WM9 Encoder series pack (32bit) and they showed up.
I know that when it comes to 64bit OS's, the drivers need to be compatible, but alot of times, the software can be native 32bit. So I figured what the heck... Wm9 32bit installs itself under Program Files (x86), just like VS12.
Really Really weird, but again, I am just glad its all over.. Since my post on Dec 5, I have been highly enjoying VS 12. I am just glad to see I didn't waste my money.
Cheers & Happy Holidays
(and thanks again for anyone who took some time to email me with suggestions)
