VideoStudio Pro X2 - Render question

Post by Donna »

I have checked my manual, checked the knowledge base and searched the forum. If this question has already been asked and answered, I apologize. I tried.

----------------------

I have made several attempts to save my video in the flv format, for eventual upload to YouTube & Photobucket. Each attempt I made showed the render progress bar at 0% and the program stopped responding. Since I possibly did not give it enough time, on my third try, I set it up to save to flv and went out and mowed my lawn. When I returned to my computer the progress bar was still on 0%.

The original video was shot on a SONY DSC-H7 still camera. The output is in mpg format. Is there some reason this isn't working for me?

Welcome to the forums,

I've been dealing with a similar FLV problem. I'm beginning to think that there is a problem with their FLV encoder. Are you running it on Vista or XP? Check the Windows Event Logs for Application Errors.

So far VS 12 has crashed, throwing errors with the mscvrt.dll, ntdll.dll, and some MPEG encoder, files (which are Windows system files). I have thus far, repair-install, complete uninstall/reinstall VS, and then reformat and reinstall Vista. I still get the crashing. I've also had the same "hang" like yours. However I managed to track down the "hanging" problem. It was due to the Lame MP3 audio encoder. I have a flash authoring program that uses it, and for some reason VS12 hates it enough to not even attempt to render an FLV file..

You might wish to report this to Corel, so that they may investigate this further..;)

I am running Vista32 with Service Pack 1 installed.
Check the Windows Event Logs for Application Errors.
Could you point me in the right direction to find this?

I just installed the program today and this was my first try with this version. I've been using VS since version 10. There were no error messages when I was trying to render, just a hang.

Thank you both. This means nothing to me, so I will just post the results here. Perhaps someone here can interpret them.

Hi,

Done 5 or 6 small vids direct to you tube.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=cz9x8ZHcQqE

Only a couple of minor errors....

I have also loaded the templates for uploading to VEHO and have had even better success - faster uploading of final compilation.

I wound up submitting a support to Corel on this. I will let you know what they say when they get back to me. I am still unable to render to flv.

Nope. Tech support sent me back a generic reply telling me to uninstall and reinstall. I didn't do it because I was too lazy and everything else is working. So the problem is still there.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.

After installing the patch to 12.0.98.1 I was able to make a couple of simple FLV's. But now it's crashing, again. I even created an MPG of the original project and created a new project with the new VS created mpg.

I also read somewhere that K-lite codecs cause problems so I uninstalled them. Same result, crash about half the way through creating an FLV.

Is VS crashing at about the same place each time? If so it may be having problems with a clip, audio, or transition. Try locating where it would be having this problem in your project. If there is a transition located there, remove it and see if it still crashes. If it is a video clip, that would indicate some sort of corruption. If so, and you have the ability to recapture that clip, try doing so and see if that fixes it..

If you're using MP3 audio, try converting it to WAV. VS will have problems with some MP3 files, especially those using the Lame codec.

FYI, I've deleted your 2 other duplicate posts in other threads. Please do not duplicate post. It does not increase the chances, or the speed at which posts are responded to. It only creates confusion.

I just installed the latest patch a few days ago. I will try the flv render and see if it made any difference.

Thanks for the tip.

Tried everything. I replaced the MP3 audio with a wav version. The crash comes at random times during the FLV write. I even created an mpg version of the whole video from VS and then started a new project with just that single mgg, no titles, no transitions, etc. and it still crashes part way through. It's not crashing in a consistant spot. Sometimes it makes it 25% of the way, sometimes 50%, but it is consistant in crashing.

Interestingly I get different "problem" with FLV.
I created a small test file using the sample video clips and some automusic.
This creates a FLV file no problem.
However VideoStudio 12 - the program used to create it - does not play it back. instead it displays a file unreadable error message.

It does however play using DivX Player 7.
How odd that the program used to create it does not play it!

Anyway.... back to your problem.
Firstly try doing what I did above and use a sample video and automusic to see if VideoStudio will create the FLV file.

If it does then there is a problem with your source material.
if it does not then there seems to be a problem with your intallatiion of VideoStudio.
