Just joined forum,have watched from afar and decided to participate, newish in video editing (awaiting delivery of VS X2) also just received Toshiba F50 laptop so hope I have enough power to edit Hi Def Video on Panasonic SD9 camcorder.

Welcome to the forums, Will..

I'm not familiar with your laptop, however if you've read some of Ken's and Etech's posts, you'll know that if your video uses the AVCHD codec, you must have a powerful PC, like a Quad core. Recently someone posted about this, and Ken replied that there is a newer version of the AVCHD being used on some Canon camcorders. This newer version is even difficult for Ken's Quad core to handle.
