X2 Pro Installation from Boxed CD- Disregard - Solved

Post by dalemccl »

Please disregard this post. I found the answer. If interested, see the third message in this thread for the answer.

I just installed the boxed upgrade to Pro X2 (ordered directly from Corel). The installation completed with no problems. Two questions:

1. Is there more content that has to be installed seperately? I noticed a Bonus folder on the CD. There was a file in that folder named VS12_MT_16x9. I double-clicked it and it launched an installer, but the installation dialog was in Japanese (or maybe Chinese), so I cancelled it since I could not read it.

It is difficult to tell what was installed by the initial Pro X2 installation and what has to be installed seperately. Any help here would be appreciated.

2. I did notice that WinDVD 8 Silver was not installed with the intitial Pro X2 installation. I found it on the CD and launched the installer. But the installation wanted a serial number. I tried the Pro X2 serial but that didn't work. I can't find a seperate serial number for WinDVD 8 Silver. I've checked the CD and the box and packing materials. Where do I find this serial number?

Be glad to.

I had turned off the Windows feature that auto runs CD/DVD discs when placed into the DVD writer drive. I prefer not to use that feature of Windows. To install Pro X2 I just double-clicked the setup.exe file at the root level of the Pro X2 installation disc. That is how I install other software. However in this case, this method installed Pro X2 but nothing else on the disc.

What I found out by calling Corel was that if I would had used Windows Autorun feature it would have brought up a menu that allows installing Pro X2, WinDVD 8 Silver, and various content items. By running just the setup.exe file I had bypassed that menu.

So I double-clicked the file AutoRun.exe at the root level of the disc and it brought up that menu which allows installation of any of the items on the disc.

So... those who have the Windows Autorun feature enabled will not have this problem. Those who have disabled the Autorun feature can double-click AutoRun.exe at the root level of the disc to get the installation menu.

As for the serial number for WinDVD 8 Silver, if you install it via the menu that AutoRun.exe brings up, it does not ask for a serial number for WinDVD. It installs it without one. It only asks for a serial number when installing Pro X2. Or in my case, since I bought the upgrade, it also asked for the serial number of the version from which I was upgrading.
