Checking the final DVD through Software

Post by nt88498 »

I think I've seen this topic mentioned here on the forum, but I can't seem to find it now.

In the next couple weeks I will be finalizing a 30 minute slideshow onto DVD. I usually watch every video that I complete so I can be confident that the information was wrote onto the DVD correctly. However, I will be needing about 100 copies of this project and won't have very much time to get it completed (so I know I will not be able to watch every one of these videos). Checking the DVDs for obvious writing errors would at least make me feel a little better if I can't watch them all.

I think I had read that there was software out there that could at least check the final DVD to let me know that everything is OK was the DVD. Is this true?

I have Windows XP. I am hoping I don't have to go out and buy any additional software to do this. I also have Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 which has alot of different utilities. Can someone tell me if Roxio, Windows, Ulead has any such software? Or does someone know of any free software that will check the DVDs accurately?

Afraid not -- but it certainly works. I use it a lot, the burning/verification aspect, I mean. When you go into the Nero ROM burning screen, though, you have to remember to tick a little check box below the progress bar. It will add about 5 or 6 minutes to your burning process, depending on your computer, but I reckon it is worth it for peace of mind.

Nero has a full functional 30 day trial that you could download.

Go to the link below and download "emsa disk check". It is free and is a standalone program so no installation. It is faster than Nero, I have both, and I use it for the exact reason you are looking for it. No ads spyware, etc.

You could create the ISO in VideoStudio and then burn the discs using DVDdecrypter which is a free program and imho is very good. It can be set to verify the burn. Hope that helps.
