Sound problems
I have a strange problem. I am converting analogue tapes into ulead using ADVC-55 converter which is giving excellent results with version 10. With 11+ however there is no sound and I find that if I go into control panel and sounds the output vol has been set to zero and the mute button is ticked. In short I can only use ver 10 for the conversion. It is not now a problem but I wasted a lot of time finding a solution

While I am on the subject of analogue capture what are the settings to use. WhenI select capture there is a drop down menu for "format" where I can select between DV, AVI, MPEG etc. Which one do I choose. I have some very special old tapes I want to digitise and I want the best results

If you are given the option to capture to DV-AVI (DV) than I would use that. It is basically a loss-less format and very easy to edit. You will then have to convert it to MPEG-2 if you wish to output to DVD.
