ULead VS10 SE - upgrades

I know nothing about the history of VideoStudio, so I'm assuming that Corel bought the ULead product a couple of years back.
I have VS10 SE that came with a capture device (EasyCAP).
Trying to register it on the Corel site fails - I'm not sure why that is.
Can I upgrade this version? It that recommended?

Corel/Ulead web-site: "To purchase the upgrade version of this product, you must own a previous licensed version of:
Ulead VideoStudio 6 Retail/Upgrade/SE/SE DVD /SE VCD/SE Basic
Ulead VideoStudio 7 Retail/Upgrade/ESD/SE/SE DVD /SE VCD/SE Basic
Ulead VideoStudio 8 Retail/Upgrade/ESD/SE/SE DVD /SE VCD/SE Basic
Ulead VideoStudio 9 Retail/Upgrade/ESD/SE/SE DVD/SE Basic
Ulead VideoStudio 10/10 Plus Retail/Upgrade/ESD/SE/SE DVD
Ulead VideoStudio 11/11.5 Plus Retail/Upgrade/ESD/SE/SE DVD
Please note that the trial version and Not for Resale (NFR) version are not eligible."
It's very worthwhile when you're in to video-editing IMO.

You can't register a SE version because it was free. SE versions are normally stipped-down versions, so you may want to upgrade. I had v10+ but did not upgrade to v11. The new features just were not worth it to me. But the new version X2 (v12) has many new features that made the upgrade a no-brainer for me. My advice would be to download the trial version and try it for yourself.
