Hi.

I am using Ulead VideoStudio 11 together with Win XP pro for video editing.
But when I am trying to add new audio tracks using the "Audio" pane and then browse on the harddisk, the program just shuts down.
Everything else seems to work fine and i can use the "preloaded" audio files but I am unable to add new ones.
It seems that I can add files from the diskdrive via import, but when I want to add from the Harddisk by pressing the browse icon, or right click'ing and use "add audio..." the program shuts down????

Does anyone know what can be wrong? Is there a way to fix the problem? or is there a way around the feature?

Has this probem been showing up recently? In other words. Did it work properly in the past?

You could try to re-install VS. Before that make a backup up of your library structure so you can put it back after reinstalling.

BTW Do you work with VS11 or 11.5?

I am quite new with this program, so to be honest I haven't used this feature before. So I don't know if it has been like that from the start??

I have thought about uninstalling and re-installing. But ofcourse I would like to do that as a last result, since it does take a bit of effort.

I am using VS 11. Is VS 11.5 some kind of upgrade that makes a big diffrence?

Yes, VS 11.5+ is an upgrade, but you need to have VS 11+ (the PLUS is important)...

Where do the audio files you are trying to add come from? Can you give us an idea of what their format is? Video Studio has difficulties with certain kinds of mp3 files or rather with mp3 prepared by certain codecs (e.g. the LameMP3 codec). So we generally suggest you first convert any mp3 to standard .wav format in an audio editor and try importing that...

My version is VS 11+, so do you recommend an upgrade?

Well, the specific files I am talking about is in the .WAV format, and the are reciding on my hardisk on a different partition. (Where I keep all my Video's and music-files.)
BUT I don't think it is a format issue (maybe that will be a problem later??) since the program shuts down the second I push the browse botton. (At the top: "Load audio" (and if I try the same thing through the files menu, og by right-clicking.) And sometimes the program will not restart after a shutdown unless I restart the PC.

My advise would be to do the upgrade anyway.

I have been investigating a little more, and looking in the log-files I get the following error:

Aplication error vstudio.exe, version 11.0.0.0, error module msvcr80.dll, version 8.0.50727.1433, error adress 0x00014500.

Does anyone know what that means?

I have upgraded the program, but that doesn't make any diffrence. The erreor is still there.

And settemand, just bear in mind that Microsoft Visual Studio is NOT the same as Video Studio. I know that may sound obvious, but you would be amazed by the number of users who come on this Board and keeping calling the editing program we deal with 'Visual Studio' and not 'Video Studio'.

OK, well now I think I am down to uninstalling and reinstalling.

I upgraded the program as suggested in this thread, and now the program just totally refuses to start up.

If I select a project (or even if I try to start the program without selecting a specific project.) the program starts to load but stops halfway, hangs for a moment and then just shuts down.

Is there a way to roll back the upgrade?

Either way I suppose the best option is to reset the thing. (Its going to be interesting to see if the initial problem with adding audio is still there after the reset.????)

Seems like you are have problems with your system AFAIK. Maybe hardware or software related. You could use this great free utility to clean things up. Such as your registry.

It helped me. I was ready for a total clean reinstall for Windows XP but this program did it all for me which has been a huge time saver.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and now everything seems to work fine.
But this time I will not upgrade.

Now all the settings with icons in the video libary is gone.
I can relink the files, but is there an easy way to get all the refferences back?

Did you make a backup of your library files as I suggested? If not the linking will have to be done manually.

Yes, I did.

But after trying to copy everything into its original position. the Icons does not automatically come up.
And the projects will not open without "relink"??
