Ulead Videostudio 11 does not write the 3 xtra DK letters
Hi.
I am using Ulead Videostudio 11 for editing my vacation videos. But as it is an english version, and as I am danish, it is a nuisence that I can't write the 3 extra danish letters we have in our alphabet, when I am texting. (I can't even write them here as this is an english forum that does not accept these letters.)
Is there a way to make that work?
Regards

Does --> This Link <-- help?
Do you mean ÅÆØ/åæø? Of course you can write them here and in VS X2, the same as I write Greek £`£f£f£b£h£d£eά in both. You have to set your keyboard to Danish then use Shift-Alt to toggle between your set languages/keyboards. Alternatively, you can keep the Alt key pressed down and type on the numeric keypad 0197, 0198, 0216, 0229, 0230 or 0248 for the 6 characters at the beginning of this message.

Well guys.
Thanks for the replies.
But maybe I am stupid, but none of the above works.
My PC is installed with a Danish Win XP PRO and it is installed with the danish keyboard. (I have rechecked.)
In other programs (and on other web pages) I can use the letters, but not on this one. And I have tryed the above sugestions, but still without luck.
I am sorry for sounding dum here, but do you have other suggestions, or is it possible to be more specifik?

OK, OK.
I see there is something strangely wrong.
If I write the three letters on this web page it initially comes out with the correct letters. BUT when i press "preview" or "submit" it comes out with this: æ ø å.
When I write in Ulead VS 11 I can change between keyboards but in both cases it comes out wit something wrong. And if I use the ALT+numbers method it doesn't come out with the correct letters. (As described on the webpage you suggested sjj1805.) But æ etc.

You have lost me, here. When you press the three keys on your keyboard (upper and lower case) what do you get here and in VS?
Is your browser etc. set for UTF-8 (Unicode) character sets?

This has happened before and as far as I know we could never resolve it.settemand wrote:OK, OK.

On some computers I am unable to enter é but on others it will.
As you use VS 11, I went back to check it out with Danish characters:

I put in the 3 characters using the Alt-nnnn technique (don't forget the leading zero!). It also worked for me in Greek from the keyboard. As I know some character graphics are not always stable, I even shadowed and rotated it. Keine Probleme! However, notice the typeface I used, Arial Unicode MS. This may be important. If you try it with an obscure typeface, you may get a series of rectangles; it is imperative you use one with 8-bit support, at least. I think all the Arial and TNR + a few others have this. Many (including any suffixed with BT do not support characters requiring 8 bits). The one I used in my example has, I think, 16-bit support for obscure alphabets.

I am not sure which keyboard Devil is using, but the last time we got into this exact same bother, about one year ago, and then also with the Scandinavian symbols, the answer turned on having a US layout keyboard (which accepted those ANSI characters that Devil was talking about e.g. Alt+0233 = é or Al+231 = ç or as he says the Å, Æ or Ø)

Thanks guys.
For all the replies.
I checked and I had only the Danish keyboard installed. Apperently that is the one messing up in VS 11.
After installing an american keyboard I am able to switch between keyboards and use the ATL + ---- method. (When I did it with the danish keyboard installed it gave some very strange results.)
This method is a bit difficult but it works.
Thanks again.

I am using a programmable keyboard which handles US English, Greek and Swiss French layouts.Ken Berry wrote:I am not sure which keyboard Devil is using, but the last time we got into this exact same bother, about one year ago, and then also with the Scandinavian symbols, the answer turned on having a US layout keyboard (which accepted those ANSI characters that Devil was talking about e.g. Alt+0233 = é or Al+231 = ç or as he says the Å, Æ or Ø)

Here is something you could try:
Select Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map
Select the font you want to use and then select the characters and copy, then you can past the characters.
The above might work with Video studio, however, I just tried to post special characters on this board and it changed the characters to numbers.
