Audio sync problem with DMF3
torgo3k -- to answer your question, no, I wasn't using the normalized audio feature. I never turned it on during any of my various attempts.
As to your suggestion, I have just downloaded the free trial version of DMF4 and used it to burn the same video clip that's been causing me fits. And to my utter surprise, there's no loss of sync on the output DVD. So Ulead has apparently found and corrected the problem in DMF4.
However, these user-to-user boards have some rather negative things to say about DMF4, plus the upgrade would cost me $65. So I'm inclined to look around for another possible solution.
Thanks for your post.

Hi,
If your using the 9600 AIW card I've had better results using the ATI
software to capture with rather than MF3.
It does a much better job of memory management.
Using the ATI software I can capture mpeg2 compliant at 100%
compression (VBR or CBR) for hours without dropping frames.
If MF3 has to do any editing at all the resulting Mpeg2 file will
not be compliant (with the latest updates). There is a definite
audio sync problem with the ulead encoder. It is the same problem that
is in the VS8 software (with the updates).
I've used the ATI 9600 to capture many 2 hour movies.
Loaded the videos into MF3 as compliant files.
Had MF3 only change the audio from mpg to dolby.
Never an audio sync problem.
The audio sync problem usually only shows up if you have cut into
a mpeg2 stream and then rejoined the 2 split points together.
If you've only trimmed the beginning or the end the video then MF should
smart-render the video without any problems.
You shouldn't have this problem unless your combining the clips or
joining videos together that were split by MF.
Using MF3 it's important to make the "Project Properties" equal to the
source video's properties if you have edited/trimmed or joined any
mpg2 files.
MF3 & 4 makes nice slideshows.
The latest (new) release of VideoStudio 9 appears to have fixed this
audio sync issue. So far I've had success with VS9 and MF4 for
burning the DVD. Note that I don't use MF4 except to create chapters,
menus and burn the VIDEO_TS folder.
I don't let MF4 touch the mpg2 file because at least with my few videos
it still appears to have the old audio sync issue.
Hope this helps,
MD

Audio sync problem in MF3
phd -- Yes. Furthermore, I didn't do any further editing of the resulting mpeg-2 file in MF3, so this is not a "garbage in, garbage out" problem in the encoder software.phd wrote:rws,
Did you check "Output streams for Movie Factory" in the options dialog box in VideoReDo?

Audio sync problem in DMF 4
bigoranget, bigoranget wrote:I have DMF 4.0 and I have the same "sync" problems as reported above. It's very frustrating! I've tried everything to correct the issue but nothing works.
I have a P4 3.0 Ghz computer, 128MB video card and 2.0 GB of RAM.
Here's some disquieting news. I downloaded and installed the TBYB version of DMF 4, to see if it would work any better than DMF 3 SE. I burned several DVDs with it with no loss of sync. So then I decided to download and install the upgrade package (DMF 3 SE to DMF 4) for a mere $35. Again, no loss of sync on output, but the slideshow transition effects didn't work. I informed Ulead Tech Support of this problem, and they sent me a link from which I was able to download and install the "full" package, just as if I weren't upgrading from a previous version. Guess what?! The transition effects are now back, but so is the audio sync problem.
I'm ready to ask for a refund, but I don't think there's much chance I'll get any satisfaction.
No problems with Audio Sync
Just and FYI for all, I put MF4 through its paces today by splitting, moving and re-joining multiples clips with no audio sync issues.

OK, but how long are your clips? I'm trying to burn a 50 minute video, and on the output DVD audio starts to lose sync about 10 minutes into the playback.

Clip or continuous?
I, too, tried multiple clips of a duration of 15 minutes or less and had no problems. The sync resets at each clip change. The problems I've encountered, and others it seems, happens in long captures of 45+ minutes.chalnick wrote:I guess I'm lucky, or something about my computer is allowing the program to work properly, because I burned a DVD with about 50 minutes of video, with clips of varying lengths after splitting, moving and re-joining the clips multiple times.
I'm quite disgusted with the apathy of uLead on this issue.
I used to have DVD Movie Factory 3, I installed it with Video Studio 8, they both used the same files to create DVD and the latest version of their DVD burning software causes the out of sync problem.
Video Studio 8 didn't cause the out of sync problem until Ulead started updating the Burning files. If VS8 is installed without any updates there are no sync problems. If you install MF3 on the same computer you will have the sync problems.
My current set up is Video Studio 9 without any Movie Factory installed, my DVDs are in sync now. VS9 has its own problems when editing out content and rejoning files. If numerous edits are made on a file there might be problems with out of sync audio. I have had to resort to only doing a mpeg file that is no longer than a hour and no more than four(4) edits and rendering the file. After all the files have been rendered I will join the files for the final output.

In VideoStudio 9 when I use the "Multi-Trim" feature I've learned
not to click on that reverse icon.
So, I go into Multi-Trim and select all the video sections that I
want to keep and then export the video(s) on the timeline to
a mpg2 file.
That's been working with long videos.
But, if I even toggle that icon once then problems with audio sync.
