Sound is delayed a few seconds MF3

Post by herreraal »

when I create DVDs from captured video, the sounds gets delay a few seconds into the video. On a 60 minutes clip at first is just barely noticeable 1/4 of the way you nitice it, 1/2 way thru the lips move and a second or two later the words come out, 3/4 of the way and over the sound is about 3 to 5 seconds late.

This is the only reason I purchase the software, I mean if it does not work I need a refund!!!

What can I do?

I attempted to dowload the updates but the link won't lead me anywhere just to a blank screen!!!

Question,
Are you editing the video after you have captured it?

Audio-Video synchronisation (AV Sync) is THE most common problem. It can have many causes including how you are capturing the video, the config of your PC, whether or not you joining or editing the video before burn etc. Once you get the right combination of process and hardware it will go away. PLease search this forum and also the Videostudio forum for the many other posts relating to this problem. It it does not help, then please tell us exactly what you are doing, including PC config, capture device details, video properties.

I know the proble is not during capturing, because once I capture to MPG, a watch the file on various programs and the sound is fine from start to end, as a matter of fact a friend of mine copy one of my files to convert to DVD with his Pinnacle software and the DVD turned out just fine.

I had a copy of Ulead moviefactory 2.0 SE that came bundle up with my firewire card and worked just fine, I just though to upgrade to moviefactory 3.0 but as of now I think I was better off with my older version.

I am doing the same think I did with MF 2.0, starting a new DVD projet, adding the captured file and burning it to DVD.
All the DVD I ever created with MF2 work great, but so far every DVD I have done with MF3 the audio and video are out of sync.

I have a pentium 4 system with 1GB Memory and (2) hard drives: a 120GB (master) with 52% fre space, a 160GB (slave with (76%) space (used for my video cvapturing files, I also have an ATI all in wonder 9600 Video card, two TDK 8x DVD burners. My video is setup to 1024 x 768, any other information? please let me know.

Thanks MATE!!!!!

I have reported the exact same issue and I have not been able to resolve it yet. I have a 2 hour MPG that plays perfectly in sync all the way through. If I use MF2.0 I can generate a DVD that plays in sync at the 2 hour mark, but DMF4.0 is hopelessly out of sync at 2 hours. The funny thing is that DMF4.0 previews the DVD perfectly prior to writing the files.

I am currently looking for alternative SW because I don't have confidence that this stuff can be made to work.

Me three ...

I have also been experiencing this problem. My .mpg capture file is perfectly fine. I import the .mpg into Movie Factory 3, I split it into two pieces, I've added a title and some text to the first frame of both pieces. The file plays fine in the preview, but the DVD has the audio off sync from the very beginning. I tried creating an .iso file and burning that to DVD with Nero 6 and got the same end result. I used Nero 6 to burn directly from the VOBS with the same end result. It is quite frustrating.

I have just purchased a new computer for video editing. MF3 came pre-installed on it. I am experiencing the same problem mentioned above. I can create an .avi or .mpg file in Adobe Premiere that plays perfectly, but after running it through mf3 the A/V synch is out. I can burn the same file perfectly with Nero.

I had MF2 on my old computer and it worked just fine.

Looking at this forum, I can't believe that Ulead is not addressing this problem with a sure-fix update.

Are you using motion menus or picking a different thumbnail for the menu? I have found both of these options upset the sync.

Try editing the files with VideoReDo.
http://www.videoredo.com/

Its simple to use and fast. There is a free trial available. Check the option for output files to Movie Factory. Import the files into DMF and make sure you check "Do not convert compliant..." to make sure you do not reencode within DMF.

This program solved all of my A/V sync problems with DVD authoring.

No, I'm not using menus of any kind and not changing the thumbnails.

Why should I have to pay for another program to do what MF3 is supposed to do?

I did make a menu, using a template that came with Movie Factory, but didn't change the thumbnails.

Here's the tricky part -

Your MPEG file can be corrupted and still play OK!
The mysterious corruption can cause A/V sync problems later when the audio & video are re-multiplexed for the DVD. The corruption may actually get repaired during this process, but when the audio & video are re-combined, they are somehow out of sync! :(

I only used Movie Factory 3 once or twice and I did experience sync problems.

Then, I "upgraded" to Video Studio 8 and DVD Workshop Express.

When I discovered that Video Studio was CORRUPTING MY MPEG FILES, I permanently solved all of my sync problems by switching from Video Studio to Womble MPEG Video Wizard ($120). I still use DVD Workshop.

:) I've made lots of perfectly synced DVDs (maybe 100) using Womble and DVD Workshop together! :) :) :)

My experiment:
Capture to MPEG.
Make an unedited DVD with DVD Workshop- Everything's cool.

Edit with Video Studio (including some transitions).
MPEG file plays OK with Windows Media Player - Everything seems cool.

Make an edited DVD with DVD Workshop - Occasional mysterious crashing... hmmm... Preview is OK.
Play the DVD - Infamous lip-sync error!!! :( :( :(

Audio sync problem in MF3

Post by rws »

I've been attempting to burn a video clip to DVD with MovieFactory 3. The clip was captured from an analog tape, using the ADS DVD Xpress converter with a video sample rate of 8000 Kbps, and subsequently edited with VideoReDo. The edited mpeg file plays back correctly, with no sync problem, within VideoReDo as well as within Windows Media Player and within MF3 Preview. It's only during the MF3 output process that sync is lost.

Ulead tech support told me to disable all background apps and non-MS services before starting the output process. This I have tried, and it does not solve the problem.

I've tried the MF3 output step with and without the check mark in the box for "Do not convert mpeg-compliant files. In both cases audio sync is lost.

So my reasonably educated guess here is that the MF3 product itself is defective, in that it can't seem to handle video captured at 8000 Kbps.

Can anyone out there suggest a work-around?

rws - I havd found with DMF4 that I only have that problem when the Normalize Audio feature is selected. I don't know anything about DMF3, but if that feature is there, try turning it off.

Otherwise, I'd suggest downloading the trial version of DMF4 and seeing if that does any better.
