Why GIF animations don't animate on the website?

Dear Friends:

I am creating a new website & moving a huge website presently on AOL to my own server. I am using different Ulead software to do this task. I am new to Ulead.

Question

This is the first time, I am actually using Ulead Software for web design. I am using PhotoImpact. I have imported GIF Animations from personal files on my system to a web page in this manner:

Object > New > Image Object from file

I also put a bunch of text & other images on the web page. I saved the web page as HTML in this manner:

File > Save for web > as HTML

Then I have moved the web page & image foulder (related to it) through the FTP to my server on the net. I punched in the URL. The web page shows, the text shows, the images show but the GIF animations do not move (animate)! They only show as steady images.

Most likely, I have done something wrong in the way of importing or saving. What am I doing wrong?

Comment to Moderators about a Technical Issue with Forum

This is a great informative Forum; however, after 3 tries, I was finally able to become a member & post! On the first 2 tries, I used AOL emails & I have never received the confirmation/activation emails. Finally I used Yahoo email & got the 3rd confirmation/activation. You might want to check out about possible incompatibility of your phBB system with AOL emails.

Additional Info

Dear Friends:

Here's some additional info. After I save the page (index) as HTML in this manner:

File > Save for web > as HTML

When I look @ the files in the "Image Folder" related to the "Web Page", I see that all the files have been saved in this format:

index_1
index_2
index_3
etc.

and all the files have been saved in "Ulead PhotoImpact Image" format. In other words, the GIF images and rest of the files are saved as JPEG. So the GIF files have not been saved in GIF format and that's why they do not animate.

So the problem is in the way the page is being saved as HTML. Now the question is, how should I save the page, so the GIF files will remain in GIF format, so they will animate?

Dear Friends:

I figured it out myself. For your info, PhotoImpact, unlike Front Page or Dream Weaver is not a web design software. It is only a photo edit software which also does some web design tasks. You cannot by default, place GIF Animation & develope it with PhotoImpact. You must manually write the script with HTML & develope it with PhotoImpact.

Photo Impact does not claim to be a web design program either. Whilst it has some web design capabilities, it is not dedicated to that. That you cannot use and develop gif files is not true either, use the Gif Animator program, part of PI, to do that. 8)
