I'm sure I am being really thick here but it has been a few months since I last used VS 11 and I have completely forgotten how to apply fades to soundtracks and how to control their duration. I can see the fade icons but dragging them to the required track does not seem to work and I just can't remember what I am supposed to do. Doh!

My help files don't seem to be working so can anyone enlighten me please?

Go to File ¡V Preferences, Then the Edit Tab, i think?

Change the default duration of the ¡¥fade¡¦
You can also change the default duration of 'transitions' and 'images'.

From the timeline select the clip in the timeline.
When you click the fade icon, the fade is applied. The icon shows as highlighted.
You do not ¡¥drag and drop¡¦ just click.

Further editing can be applied using the rubber banding option from the audio view.

Yes It amazing how we forget when we dont use it for a while,
i find the best way for Audio fade is place your audio track into timeline,
then you will see 2 symbols which are usually orange (attibute) you can click on the first one that will allow audio to fade in ,click on second one to allow audio fade out,the other method is audio view .click on audio view and you will see all audio (rubberbanding) drag the line to where you wish to place the level of volume,as for duration just drag the audio file as to where you want it to sto and start.Hope this helps

and..... don't forget there is an audio view timeline to help with rubber banding - and the display is much improved in VSX2 over previous versions.

I still prefer to tweak my audio by exporting it as a WAV file and then opening it either with Audacity or if you have VS12 Ultimate you will now have a copy of Steinberg 6 LE.

Tweak the file with the audio editor and then import it back into VideoStudio.

But here is another one for you. How do I change the text colour in titles? I know I have done it before but I can't find an option or a palette anywhere.

Ummm... about middle of screen, when you choose the font, below that is a box for Font Size and to its immediate right is a little box which is white by default. If you hover you mouse over it, it says... ta dah! Color. You click that and the palette opens...
