24 custom Picture-in-Picture effects for MSPro....
You can download 24PIP.zip, my collection of customized Picture-in-Picture (PIP) effects, here;
http://digitalvideo.8m.net/24pip.zip
Installation instructions are in the *.zip file along with a moving path definition file named 24PIP.mvp
Once you install the *.mvp file 24 new PIP effects will appear in the Moving Path list. Just drag 'n drop on the overlay clip(s) you want to turn into PIP's.
They're set up for various locations on the screen and are of varying sizes ranging from small to large.
Some are centered to the screen, some are centered to the top/bottom or either side and others are placed near the corners.
It's quite possible to put an interviewer in the center of the screen while having up to 8 interviewees surrounding him/her.
Most all take into account the title safe margins so they won't be cut off on a TV. I've used these with both MSPro 6.5 and 7.
Enjoy.

Are you doing it by right-clicking on the Moving Path heading then selecting LOAD?
It sounds like you're right-clicking on the Media Gallery, which is the wrong dialog, In Media Library you do have to load *.GAL files, but not in Moving Paths.
This image is MSPro 7.3, but this has worked this way for a LONG time.

Note that the requested filetype is *.MVP.
Custom transitions can also be saved or loaded using the *.TEG filetype from the appropriate dialog.
Video filters use the *.RSF filetype.
Audio filters use the *.RSA filetype.

Thanks for the clarification.
*.GAL files are appropriate for the Media Library, but not for saved custom effects like transitions, moving paths, audio or video filters.
I'll forward this threads link to the proper contact at Ulead.
In order to help things a bit could you check your version and see if the other dialogs also wrongly point to *.GAL files of if they are using the correct filetypes as follows;
Moving Path: *.MVP
Transitions: *.TEG
Audio Filters: *.RSA
Video Filters: *.RSF
then post the results to this thread?
Thanks again for your help.
