Trouble with vs8 & SonyDCR-DVD201. No sound when importe

Post by lisemarie »

Hei!
I have a sony pc 105 witch easely imported the files. Having borroughed my oncles SonyDCR-DVD201 Handycam to edit some hollydaypictures, i stumbled over some problems. With loads of searching and reading ive managed to get the files in on the computer with imagesmixer, but when i import the files to Vs8 i get no sound. When testing the same files i winamp, the sound "works" . Im pretty new to the editing of video, but im really stuck here, and would love some help.
(By the way its not the trial)

Hi
I also own a sony dcrdvd203e handycam. i also get no sound when I import the video clips from the dvd. I have just bought moviefactory 4 which works !!..you get the sound but you can't edit the movies like vstudio 8. I think it's something to do with how the camcorder records the audio (AC3).
Please could you help me as well
Thanks Drew

Hi again
My camcorder came with Sony software (You can download this from the website ....It's called PICTURE PACKAGE). IT WILL CONVERT the video clip to .mpg with audio converted from AD3 to stereo which then can de imported to uvs8 etc. It is a little slow and will only convert one clip at a time. Read the instructions on how to convert files as it not as straight forward as you think but it works.
If you find any any other software which does the job better pleaase let us know as i'm fed up now.
regards
Drew

VS8 will only import AC-3 audio if it has either the Ulead AC-3 plug-in pack -- which costs US$29.95. However, VS9 comes with this already included. Since you already have VS8, it would cost US$49.95 to upgrade to VS 9. Since, in my opinion, VS9 is a superior product, it would be logical to upgrade.

There is also a free AC-3 filter which can be downloaded (though I don't have the web address). But it will in theory only allow you to import the AC-3 audio. But you cannot then produce a final disc which has AC-3 audio: only the standard LPCM or MPEG audio.
