16:9 video showing up squished on 4:3 TV's
I recorded video in 16:9 and processed it/burned it as 16:9. It shows up on my 16:9 HDTV as it should, but when I watch it on a 4:3 TV it is vertically squished, not letterboxed as it should be. I thought when you choose 16:9 that puts "flags" on the DVD to let the DVD player know how to display the DVD? That is why Hollywood widescreen movies from Netflix, Blockbuster, etc. show up letterboxed on 4:3 TV's. What do I need to change in the DVD MF 6 settings so that the DVD will fill the screen on my 16:9 TV and show up letterboxed on 4:3 TVs?
I would first check the settings on the dvd player connected to the 4:3 TV.
In the dvd player connected to your 4:3 TV it sounds like the dvd setup menu is setup as if connected to a 16:9 TV and not a 4:3 TV.
If your using the same dvd player on the HDTV & the 4:3 TV you will have to tell the dvd player it's connected to a 4:3 display.
It sounds like a setting in your dvd player since the disc plays properly on the 16:9 TV.
