Video fade out to black

Post by Rollason »

Trying to fade out to black at the end of a video I find that I get a second or so of the end of the video after the end of the fade out. Really annoying and appears impossible to eradicate. There is a title "Finish" that fades in and out at the end of the video but I would like to fade out the video as the title fades to black.
Any ideas anyone?

Not sure exactly what you are describing -- you get a second or so of the video, but how have you done the fade out? Normally you would have your 'Finish' clip, then insert a black photo matter (from Color in the dropdown), and between them either put a cross fade or fade to black transition... Did you do that?

and not forgetting to make the black clip one frame longer than the crossfade, so when the video plays and returns to menu, the hang-out picture is really black... especially with interlaced.

Or as I often do, use the brightness filter to fade the last video or picture to brightness and contrast to -100 from a keyframe you define, then you can tune the speed of fading with intermediate steps.
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.
