VS X2 Repair Option
Does anyone know FOR A FACT if the downloadable version of VS X2 has the REPAIR option/function included or is it only available in the Mail Order DVD for the extra $ 9.00 "shipping"?

Well, all I can say, from personal experience, is that I have the download version of X2 Ultimate. It downloaded in one enormous ZIP files (abut 1.7 GB). And I have checked and it has the Repair function on the same page you eventually get to when it also asks if you want to Uninstall.
However, I cannot speak for X2 or X2 Pro which I understand come in different shape and size packages...

In order to get the repair option, you need to unpack the main install file, using a program like WinZip. Once unpacked you need to burn the files to a CD, and Install from the CD, or just leave the unpacked files on your system.
One way to tell if the repair option will be available, after unpacking the main install file, there should be a autorun.inf file. Autorun.inf is generally always present on CD/DVD program installation discs. If it is not, the program install file was not written so that it would trigger the repair option of the operating system.

Burning those unzipped files...
How big will all of those files be? I am considering just ordering the download without 'download insurance'. VS10+ came with the installation CD and the Bonus CD. Are the files in such a way that you can split them up into an installantion and bonus for x2? Just wanted to hear of anyone successfully getting the download and being able to archive the back up installation as if you had ordered the Box CDs.

My copy of VSX2 ultimate (Download) has a repair option.
Not at my own machines right now but I will check later to see if
VSX2 Pro and VSX2 Standard are the same.

Just want to confirm that my electronic download of VSX2 Pro Upgrade does *not* have a repair option. This only gives you the option to uninstall when run from either Programs and Features or from the original install.sjj1805 wrote:Please view:

It downloads as an executable that extracts to a folder of VS-Installation Files with no autorun.inf since it doesn't appear to be intended for a CD install.
I'm having an issue where X2 does not see my DVD drives and would prefer to do a repair install versus an uninstall/reinstall (not sure how it handles user settings and added templates). I would guess it lost the DVD drives when I uninstalled VS 11.5.

My VS x2 Pro was a boxed version with CD and printed manual. Under the Control panel > Add and remove progs. it has the option Change or Uninstall! Not sure what change means in this context. When I get time and am ready to do a VS re-install I will choose the Change option.
