Issue to load AVControl with VS12 on Vista

Post by apierce »

Hi,

I am battling to get the AV Control software to run on Vista. I edited the info.ini to not load it on the main installation. The main installation loads perfectly. When I try to run the AVControl.exe I get an error that says "Setup failed to launch installation engine: class not registered"

I have read the numerous threads on VS11 and tried all that advice but to no avail.

Any help welcome please.

Regards

Andrew

If you are trying to install VS11 AV Control, what you need to do is go to the Ulead site and install this patch.

http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm

Patch is called Hot Fix 01. Follow the instuctions and you should be able to
reinstall and have the AV control install too.
There are also 2 other updates there that you will want to install.

He is using VideoStudio 12 so those patches will not work.
Please try the following:
Corel Technical Support wrote:Dear Customer,

According your problem, http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=33014
Our RD has given me other build for you to test.
ftp://UL9MYQD6:6D1W8BNY@Private.ulead.c ... 812-14.zip
to try the following steps:
1. Use the attachment to replace the file of IviAvCtl.dll in UVS 12 AVControl folder to check if work
2. Send the test tool \\ks-nas\Testdata_KS\UDC\1.0\UDC1.0_(E)_for UVS\0812-14 to the user
3. Please send log files back to us
Thanks.

Thank you very much for the responses. Quite correct, I am trying to get VideoStudio Pro going. I will try the replacement DLL tonight and give feedback.

Hi, I have looked for the "IviAvCtl.dll" in the attachement and it does not exist. The only file that is remotely like it is a file called "InstAvCtrl.dll". Copied that but it does not work.

I ran the AVControl.exe and that gives me the same "Could not load Class" error as before.

I ran the Setup.exe file to install the Corel DeviceCompatible 1.0 software. That gave a fatal error but I could open the program but could not initialise it. It created 4 log files that I tried to email but had no address to email it to.

Regards

The latest IviAvCtl.dll kindly released here:

fixed MOST of the connectivity and capture problems when using VS Pro X2 to capture DV Type 1 using Firewire (i.Link) from a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV460 using a Hi8 tape for playback. I can even preview the tape, something that VS 10 couldn't do. Only one small problem, the capture stops after 9 seconds, consistently. The captured file is fine, except its only 9 seconds long. This still works in VS 10. Just doesn't work in VS 11, 11.5 or VS Pro X2.

Is there some type of timeout in the code or capture plug in that quits the capture if the DV stream is missing timecode data for 9 or more seconds?

Please look into this. I think you've almost got the Sony D8 camera Hi8 playback problems solved.

Thanks!

First, none of here work for Corel, so none of us can "look into it" in the way you mean.

Second, as you seem to be aware, this has been a bug since VS11, caused by Corel dropping the old capture plug-ins which worked perfectly well for VD10 and early versions. And they just never fixed it for Digital 8s playing analogue 8mm or Hi8 tapes via firewire. I have a DCR-TRV480E and have had this problem since VS11, though not earlier. Corel has been aware of the problem since VS11 and we think they may be working on a fix, but can't be certain about that.

In the meantime, a lot of us use in any case the small freeware capture program called WinDV (www.mourek.cz) or Windows Movie Maker or eveb VS10 (like you obviously still can). We capture in DV format with one of those and open the captured files in VS11 or 12 for editing.
