Major problem with VS X2

Post by geraghtyg »

Hi all

I'm having major problems with my VS X2. I also have VS 8, 9, 10, 11.5 and Media Studio Pro 8 (which I don't use anymore as using Vista no) - Anyway, I downloaded X2 and it was working ok at first but sometimes would fail to load up. Curiously, this also began to happen with my VS11.5. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling X2 but to no avail. I also tried uninstalling all my Ulead products and then just installed VS X2 but I still have the problem. When I try start up the program, a small pop up appears which says: "Cannot initialize application. Unable to load library." Also in this pop-up are two sets of number within square brackets. They say [15122:0:0] and [15034:1:14]. Could anyone please shed some light on my situation? I have a wedding almost completed and can not carry on as it stands

Many thanks in advance

Graham

It's possible you have a corrupted dll. We need to track it down. Usually re-installing the program fixes these things but if you have the download version it's possible you are just re-ibstalling a damaged dll.

You might get more details in Windows Event Viewer. try looking in there to fish for clues.

Corrupted dll sounds bad alright!!! I'm not too bad with computers but thats just getting really complicated!!! As for selected the repair option at re-installation, I couldn't find that option. Should it be an option during the standard "install shield" installation? I'm about to head to bed now as it's late here in Ireland but please please feel free to reply again. ANY help is very much appreciated......In the event that that this cannot be fixed, would it work if I got the boxed version of the product???

The Repair option only reveals itself when you go to Control Panel > (ADD/Remove) Programs. When you select Corel Video Studio X2, it goes through some palaver, but eventually a screen appears which asks whether you want to repair or remove it. Select the former...

Hi again. When I go into the "uninstall or change a program" in control panel and select to uninstall/change Corel VideoStudio 12, the install wizard runs and following this the VideoStudio Pro X2 splash background appears on-screen with a "Confirm Uninstall" pop-up in the center of the screen which says "Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its features?" If I select "cancel", the process stops and if I select "OK", the program then uninstalls. Another pop-up comes up before it unistalls which says "Do you want to remove Corel VideoStudio 12 settings in your current user account folder? This will reset your personal Corel VideoStudio 12 information to the default settings. Continue?" I can either select "OK" or "cancel". I presume "OK" will remove the settings and "cancel" will keep them. I've tried both of them at this stage.
I don't see any option to use a "repair" function. I'm using Vista, if that is of any help to you.
Thanks again everyone.

Did you install the program from DVD? Or download and install.
If you download you should unpack the download & burn to a dvd, then install from the dvd. I'm pretty sure the "Repair" option will then appear.

Also starting a new installation without going to the control panel should trigger the "Repair" option because the installation program will already see you have VS12 installed.
I suggest to just try re-installing the program instead of removing. The repair option should then appear.

Hi etech6355. I had a downloaded version and I did everything you said in your post but it's still not working at all. Due to the fact that I need to get the current wedding project finished ASAP, I have actually bought a new custom made PC tonight. Cost about $2,000 but its really good and I would have had to buy one soon as my current PC is not quite powerful enough for HD so I'll let you all know how I get on when it gets delivered in the next week or so!!!

Is your Vista upto date with all patches ?. Download and install only "Important and Recommended " ones.

I have checked all 3 download versions I have of VSX2, They all have the repair option.
Ultimate
Pro
Standard.

To use it.
1. Use Winzip to extract all of the files to a folder on your hard drive.
2. Look in that new folder for setup.exe and run it
3. An option will appear asking if you want to repair or remove VideoStudio.

babdi and sjj1805, thanks your input.

My Vista is always up to date so not an issue there.

I have begun clearing out the hard drive of programs so no longer have Ulead on the system. Will be using this PC as a media center connected to my 47" TV.

Looking forward to my new PC to arrive. It should have no problems with HD and the quad core support with VS X2 will help:
