"Save As Still Image" sometimes greyed out

I wanted to get some stills off the .MPEG file I'd created. However, the option to do this (under Tools) was greyed out.

I don't remember having trouble getting stills just a month ago under very similar circumstances. I was able to get some two dozen nice stills from all parts of an hour-long performance.

My workaround made me feel stupid ("This CAN'T be right!"): I "cut" on either side of each frame that I wanted, and THEN the "Save As Still Image" option became available to me. At the end I went back and Undid 20 times.

If I remember correctly, you need to be in the project play mode rather then the clip mode in order to take a still image.

Yes - if you are in 'Clip' playback mode you use "Clip >> Save as Still Image" but if you are in 'Project ' playback mode you need "Tools >> Save Current Frame as Image" - the alternatives being greyed out for each option.

WHY ? - only Ulead programmers know that.
